In order to understand anxiety, we need to understand the mechanism of fear and anxiety. Fear and worrying are functional and normal processes for all people. If a person experiences excessive levels of fears and anxiety, a clinical intervention may be required.
The difference between fear and anxiety is time difference. As a human being, we are afraid if we witness something will come to us now. If we believe that something will happen to us in the future, we call anxiety (anxiety). For example, we walk alone in a forest. We came across a very strong predator, for example, a bear. We are afraid that most of us will not be enough to fight a bear. Since a person is afraid of the bear, he usually does not criticize himself and are not criticized by his environment. So if he's afraid of a street cat? I am thinking of examining the answer to this question in the phobias article, so we will continue to anxiety. Our difference between the cat and the bear is the difference between how we are (we are strong) when we are compared to the bear and the cat as a human being. We are afraid of the bear, we are not afraid of the cat. Now let's build the same example over the future. We walk in a forest and we are worried that we will come across the bear. Here, while the object of fear that is now and here leads to fear, we call anxiety that this object of fear will come across the future or that there will be something in the future. As you can see, the difference between fear and anxiety is the difference between the realization of now or in the future.
So what are we gonna do? How will we get rid of anxiety (excessive anxiety)?
Answer: We will increase our strength.
The answer is actually very simple, but it can take a long time to internalize this simple answer.
At the same time, this expression ız We will increase our power ’is sometimes misunderstood.
The month and cat example I have given above is for all of us to understand the issue, of course, it does not intend to harm any animal. Now let me change the example I have given through animals with an example from the field of relationships.
"When I go out, something will happen to me"
Let's think of a person who does not leave his home due to his belief above. For him, society and outside are fearful. It will hurt him in a way. This is an anxiety directed fear for the future.
So how will this friend defeat anxiety?
How will it be stronger?
When the subject is psychology, we use strengthening in a spiritual sense, not physical. The power here is the increase in the ego/self power of the person. In order to strengthen the person, he must meet himself; To meet your own thoughts, your own emotions and the world of meaning. If a person understands the origin of the thoughts and emotions he currently experiences, he will no longer have to deal with the fear and concerns that he cannot make sense of.
There are two important ways for the person to meet himself;
1- What is happening now? (What's going on from my mind)
2- What happened in the past? (Childhood life)
What is now is the thoughts that pass through our minds. In the therapy process, we find the ideas that pass through our minds and we look at what kind of relationship we will establish with them.
The past is our personality structure formed as a result of our childhood life (together with genetic factors).
By focusing on these two processes (thoughts in the mind and childhood experiences), we can make sense of the fear and anxiety that is happening. Thus, the person receiving consultancy services has seen, made sense and solved the processes within itself. The person meets himself and strengthens his self/ego. Ultimately, the person becomes emancipated and happy.
